Boating down the Nore, and cycling up to the Parade, Santa is arriving in Kilkenny on Saturday the 27th of November. Join him as he takes the green route across the city, by boat and by bike arriving on the Parade just in time to launch this year’s Yulefest. Watch on from the streets or join him on his Santa’s City Cycle. There will be Samba music, Digital Fire Street Performers and the 501st Garrisson Stormtroopers. It’s the most wonderful time of the year so root out your Christmas jumper and come join us as we welcome Santa to our Medieval city and launch Yulefest 2021!
On the river Santa and his elves will be joined by boats from local Kilkenny clubs and organisations. Line the river and watch Santa and his elves arrive by epic Christmas flotilla.
Meet Santa as he comes off the boat at Canal Square and join him for the second part of his journey – Santa’s City Cycle. ‘Bling your bike’ and join environmentally conscious Santa as he takes the green option and takes his bike on the road. The Cycle will end on in the Castle Park. Then on the Parade we will officially launch Yulefest 2021 with Cathaoirleach Fidelis Doherty and Mayor Andrew McGuinness. Local musicians will entertain and the Christmas Tree lights will be turned on officially launching Yulefest 2021, and beginning Christmas in Kilkenny. Lady Desart Choir will play about 3.30pm at the Yulefest Bandstand and then the Trad Trio will play between 4-5pm with the official turning on of the lights at 4.30pm.
Santa will be hopping in the boat at 2pm, jumping on the bike at Canal Square at 3pm then the Yulefest Launch will be on the Parade at 4pm – 5pm. Put on your Christmas jumpers and come line the quays and streets and ignite your Christmas spirit!
