Music in Kilkenny presents:

Nathan Sherman – Viola

Alex Petcu – Percussion

Violist Nathan Sherman and Percussionist Alex Petcu will combine to present a programme of music by JS Bach, Tigran Mansurian and Luciano Berio. Berio’s Naturale evokes the heart and soul of Sicilian folk music filled with dramatic flourishes and dances. The meditative and colourful sound world of the Armenian composer Tigran Mansurian, plus a re-imagining of J.S. Bach’s Suite for Viola da Gamba in G minor will be a truly unique event.

Alex Petcu is quickly establishing himself both nationally and internationally as a percussionist of the finest calibre. His debut album, “Alex Petcu: In Time” has recently been released on the RTE lyric fm label.

Nathan Sherman has been based in Ireland since 1999 since when he has enjoyed an adventurous career both as a performer and as a teacher. He has toured extensively throughout Europe, China, Kazhakstan, and the USA. His main passion is chamber music and he is the founder of the Ficino Ensemble.

Music in Kilkenny is supported by The Arts Council of Ireland and by Kilkenny County Council.
