Santa is coming to town to officially launch Yulefest Kilkenny 2024 on Saturday 30th November. Keeping with tradition Santa will once again take a boat on the River Nore, before taking a trip around the city and finishing up at Kilkenny Castle, followed by turning on of the Christmas tree lights at The Parade, with Santa, Cathaoirleach Cllr Michael McCarthy, Mayor Cllr Andrew McGuinness and Castlecomer’s Junior Eurovision star Enya Cox.
Old and young are encouraged to come out and welcome Santa to town! Enjoy live music, the Yulefest Christmas Market and maybe even get a picture with the big man himself!
The festivities will begin on Canal Square at 2pm and Santa will turn on the lights on The Parade at 5pm. All welcome!
Timeline of the day:
11am – Yulefest Christmas Market opens for 2024, The Parade Kilkenny City.
12noon – Live music at the Yulefest Yurt with Spinc Comhaltas
1.45pm – Samba Katz drumming performance Canal Sq & Santa’s elves will begin to arrive
2.15pm – Santa will start his journey on the river
2.30pm (approx) – Santa will disembark (Canal Sq)
2.40pm (approx) – Santa will begin his journey around the city by Steam Train!
Follow him on foot on the footpath or by bike.
3.15pm – 4.15pm – Santa will be saying hello and posing for photos at Kilkenny Castle/The Parade
3.45pm – Live music with Code of Behaviour at the Yulefest Yurt
4.30pm (approx) – The Cathaoirleach and Mayor will welcome Santa & Enya Cox will perform.
5pm – The Christmas Tree Lights will be turned on and Christmas in Kilkenny will officially begin!!
5.15pm – Live Music with Code of Behaviour
6pm – Live Music with Raindogs at the Yulefest Yurt
8pm – Yulefest Christmas Market closes for the day.
