Introducing the newest cat on the Catwalk Trail this Christmas – the Yulefest Cat. Continuing on from the success of the Kilkenny Catwalk Trail, we’re introducing another Pangur Bán cat to our city. Especially for Christmas the Yulefest Cat will be designed and decorated by local father and daughter artists Brock, Blaise and Jade Butler Join us on December 4th to meet the newest Catwalk Trail Cat. Talk to the artists and admire the Christmas Cat all while soaking up the festive atmosphere on the Parade. After the big unveil the finished cat will move back home to the Kilkenny Art Gallery on Patrick Street where you’ll be able to visit it as part of the Kilkenny Catwalk Trail. Tag it on to the end of your Catwalk trail or use it as inspiration for your own Christmas decorating.
Brock Butler has been exhibiting in Kilkenny for many years and has also shown in Dublin, Galway, Belfast, Edinburgh and London as well as at various arts festivals and international art fairs. He has three times been awarded Government per cent for art commissions. Collectors of his work include financier Dermot Desmond and Senator David Norris, and he is also included in numerous hotel collections around the country.
Jade Butler is an Irish artist working primarily in still life painting in oils, graduating from West Wales School of the Arts in 2010. Jade has exhibited in annual exhibitions of The Royal Hibernian Academy, The Royal Ulster Academy and The Royal Scottish Academy. Her work is held in private collections in Europe and America and in several public collections including the Office of Public Works N.I.
Blaise Butler is an illustrator and sculptor. She most recently exhibited her sculptures at The Secret Garden Exhibition during Kilkenny Arts Festival 2021. Having lived for several years in Australia, where she expanded her artistic range, working for some time with a studio of tattoo artists – she has now returned to Kilkenny and has also returned to Art School to extend her skills even further, studying ceramics at Grennan Mill.
Come see the Yulefest Cat be unveiled on the Parade on December 4th. After the unveiling The Yulefest Cat will be on display at the gallery in Patrick Street until Easter.
