An interactive family friendly trail around Kilkenny city, taking in the city’s Christmas Lights, Christmas Trees and historical areas while ‘reindeer spotting’, answering questions and solving puzzles. A magical way to spend an evening with the family in the beautiful medieval city of Kilkenny this festive season!
The trail is a self-guided free activity on public streets. Participants simply need to pick up a map in shops and libraries across Kilkenny city or visit Yulefest HQ on Friday evenings 5-8pm or Saturday and Sundays 11am-6pm (bottom of The Parade, R95 Y672)
You can begin the trail from anywhere on the map and approach the locations from any route you choose, although the stops are numbered from the starting point at the bottom of The Parade. Follow the map to get to every stop and answer the questions and puzzles when you arrive – make sure you keep an eye out for ‘Santa’s Reindeers’ on your way (sidequest!). Continue on the trail until you’ve visited all the sites and answered all the questions. Now it’s time to submit your answer sheet! Use the post box at the start/end point at the bottom of the Parade. Ensure to include your team name and correct email address for a chance to win spot prizes throughout the week. If you want to keep playing check out the extra activities on the back of the map!
The Yulefest Christmas Trail is live throughout the festival, so you can pick a time that suits you, although we highly recommend the evenings when the lights shine their brightest. It’s the perfect after school or work activity! On Friday nights you can enjoy buskers around the city and on the weekends The Parade will come to life with the Christmas Market and Yulefest Live Music Stage!
